Newsom unveils homeowners insurance plan. Will it bring insurers back or fast-track higher prices?

The Consumer Watchdog organization warns insurance for homeowners, businesses and vehicle owners will become even more expensive in California under a proposal unveiled by Gov. Gavin Newsom.

He is running this state into the ground. He says one thing but does another. How about we cut the gas taxes to off set the insurance rate hikes that are coming.

He wants to put a cap on the rent. But wants to raise real estate taxes wants to insurance companies to raise their rates fast. This guy is a disaster. Bring back the electric chair

Newsom and the legislature should pass a new bill that would increase property tax by 10 percent based on a new assessed value. Then use that money to establish state-run insurance. Everyone is covered. It's a Win Win.

State should take over home insurance to operate as non profit. It can be done and it should be done.

look at the subdivision with trees all around it and very close to the houses that are required by the county to get an occupancy I call it shooting yourself in the foot. combustible materials right next to the house and now the state is trying to force the ins companies to stop charging a fair market value for the every body wants to live in the tree's but no one wants to pay for the fire

So now Newsom jumps in to dangle a carrot in front of insurers because his incompetent/lazy insurance commissioner won't do their job. Now we're going to have constant sequential rate increases from insurance companies who got burned (pardon the pun) by the utility who pioneered this ongoing rate hike concept (PG&E) and not-so coincidentally turned the state into an inferno for three years running. I love this state but at some point you have to say you've had enough dysfunction and move on to greener pastures where you're not lorded-over while being systemically broke.
