I have been a Christian for many years and in the past two years I have reverted to Islam. I am 62 years old and I still keep some of my Christian traditions. I believe in the Prophet Jesus and with no disrespect to the Prophet Muhammad (pbut) I feel closer to the stories of Jesus. I do enjoy learning about the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and I feel blessed to have the opportunity to extend my knowledge.


As far as Allah is concerned, I like the fact that Allah is so great that my mind cannot fathom Him. Allah is so great that He allows me to call Him my friend if I need that. I realize that He is God Alnighty and I would never consider Him as a peer. I know He is my Creator .

I have a question. I am a Black American who grew up in a predominantly Black Baptist Church. Gospel music is very important in our history and culture. Gospel music helped us to endure slavery and racism.

My problem is that many of the songs speak of Jesus as God. Although the music is soul stirring I am not comfortable listening to it.

If I know that Jesus was not God, is there harm in listening to those particular songs?

For me, my one God, Allah is the only God. And when you mention to think of him as a friend, it really puts it in perspective, because if you had a friend that you loved and you sing against him, if you do things would hurt him, it would be very harmful to the relationship. Yet Allah will continue to forgive you if you just turn to him. Praise to allah praise to allah

Abraham peace be upon him reached the status of being a friend of Allah almighty through obedience and worship. Allah almighty gave him this title after he strived in the way of Allah almighty and spreading his religion

I'm a Christian, but this makes sense. I do feel Christians (American Christians specifically) REALLY cling to the "friend" relationship and indeed losing the respect of God and forgetting His awesomeness and glory

I respectfully disagree; a friend is a confidante, the one who cares for you and loves you unconditionally. Allah may not need be in the market for friends but He is my friend for our relationship is based on LOVE.
