RULES:
The object of the game is to be the first player to get 1 pawn to the opposite side of the board. Lay out a 4x4 board. Place white’s pawns on the closest row and black’s pawns on the farthest. Pawns move the same as in regular chess except they may not perform their initial double step move option, therefore en passant is not allowed. If a player has no legal move, then they lose. The first player to get a pawn to the opposite side of the board, wins!

The same thing but the board is smaller and there are less pawns.

octopawn and hexapawn both have a definite winner (if the second player plays the game perfectly remembering the openings he/she wins)

I like Pawnographic Chess better, for this type of variant. It's on an 8 x 8 board, the pawns are set up as in normal, FIDE chess, & their moves are identical in every respect (except they don't promote, of course) to regular FIDE chess (including en passant); otherwise, it's exactly the same as this game (get a P to the last rank, or shut out the opponent's ability to move).
