its not weird at all it shows your a well rounded student/person and for some gifted students of lesser chance it's the only way the can go to college is on Scholarship. there's some older people that still know how to drive manual transmission cars but generally prefer automatics unless they want a sports car or something where a manual is expected to be the default transmission where as in other cars an Automatic is basically the default like a Luxury car or a little Japanese commuter car like a Toyota Camry. my mum learned to drive an automatic first and later learned to drive a manual in Porsche 911 turbo and a Toyota Corolla station wagon. yeah I can see the tipping being weird to a tourist who doesn't have similar rules in their country for how much food service people etc. get paid
