I just want to say that, somehow, a lot of the videos you have been putting out have been helpful for my upcoming RenFaire themed wedding with the hand fasting knot and the how to make crowns and now this. So, I appreciate it guys!

For your Fum: make a bowl for it, so that it looks like an Grandaff style of pipe! Use your Fum as the mouth piece, and the stem as a writing pen, and the bowl as a place to store extra toppers.

I appreciate that you didn’t only use your laser. It’s difficult to get excited about a craft or watch it being built when you don’t have the tools that are being used in the video.

On the coping saw: Hold the handle BELOW your project. Gives much better visibility and much greater control.

I make pipes and I have a sign design that would incorporate an incense cone to make the sign look like it is smoking and this video has motivated me to actually do it. Thank you.

Could you do a camping video using the kitchen cooler, bag tent, fold flat vanity and staff? We still haven't seen them all in action together! Would be fun to see the coffee, alchemy and tipsy traveler sets in there too!

If you only have access to plywood, you can cut the outline with an xacto knife first. It will help prevent tear-out when cutting with the saw.

Yes, glue the pattern to the work piece. Use a sharp craft (Exacto) knife to trace around the pattern, this will reduce splintering on the top surface. Coping saw technique: Handle goes on the BOTTOM, with the teeth pointing DOWN. This means the blade is always in tension while cutting and it won't buckle. (cheap crap coping saws will have the handle fall off, you may have to epoxy the nut into the handle) Use a piece of 'scrap' wood/ply/MDF as a backing under the workpiece (clamp it to the table/bench), move the workpiece so you are cutting really close to the support - it won't matter if you cut into the backing piece and the support piece 'should' support the workpiece and stop those tiny bits snapping off. This is also the technique used by Jewelers to cut out metal for braclets and rings. You can also get much bigger saws called 'Bow' or 'Turning' saws - Gramercy Tools in NY still make them (if you are buying a second hand 'vintage' saw, check their site so you don't get ripped off) to make bigger projects.

For people looking for tools like laser cutters i highly reccomend searching for maker spaces in your area! Most major cities have at least one and they often have a nice selection of tools for projects like this.

Let's go to the Tree, the Tree's a great place. Love the Tree. 💚

I advise using a coping saw with the handle under the working surface. Looks suspicious in video but I find it works much easier.

I like the look of the hand-carved one better than the laser-cut one. The little bit of roughness around the edges is more appealing to me than the super crisp lines. Of course, if you wanted to combine the aesthetic of the hand carving with the convenience of the laser you could program the laser to cut with a little extra space around the edges and then go in and rough it up by hand.

This video lands EXACTLY as I'm planning to make a sign for my medieval display. Thanks!

5:30 to 6:30 better become a short! That last 10 seconds is pure gold!

because most of my crafting has to be done indoors right now, I'm pretty sure if I do make any sort of sign like this in the near future, it's going to be a bunch of layers of chip-board and cardstock, which is actually great for adding way too much detail while looking like one piece, especially if you add a few layers of primer or glue to seal everything together before painting.

Tip: Super Glue accelerator is baking soda in water, you can make it yourself! You can also fill a void with backing soda powder, dab on thin super glue and it will set up immediately, filling the void in a very strong way!
