I highly recommend watching some Australian off-road videos if you don't already. In parts they can only go 2" above factory roof height without needing to do other paperwork with the government and hiring an engineer to inspect. So they go with a lock it plate it drag it technique and hence usually have really clean factory performing machines.

2" lift with Old Man Emu shocks, 245/70R16 tires on 16" rubicon wheels, magnaflow exhaust, H4 headlight upgrade.  Best daily driver mods I've done to my Jeep.  Rides great, handles well without being too high, and looks newer than it really is.  I keep mine clean inside just like you do.  I envy the 5 speed though haha.

Just a cheap 1-2" lift with some flat fender flares then maybe some aggressive AT in maybe 32 11.50. I might put a lunchbox locker in front axle. I have a powertrax no slip in the front of mine. Forget its there until I need it.

You will need new hinges for that door and a door stay if it is separate. The door may be ok to use but once the hinges spring they are done.

Rear locker, little bit bigger tires, and maybe a bumper to match the rear based on how many things like to hit your jeep.

Get a nice big pry bar, stick it into the hinge and push towards the vehicle.  It happens all the time...  Good luck!

I had a truck rear end my Jeep today. Luckily it just bent the bumper and trailer hitch down a little bit. I think once the insurance goes through, I'll get one of those affordable off road rear bumpers. They look pretty nice for the money.

Take off the fender flares completely. And the bumper crowning on both front and back bumper. 1-2 inch lift would be nice and the dirt guards in the wheel whell trim/ push them in so they dont stick out while driving around town. Probably better to push them in so once your on dirt road you can pull them out and get a little bit of pertection. The stock roof rack mount works wonders for me i wouldnt see any reason to replace it. I have a 3 inch lift 98 xj 259k almost all rebuilt besides engine.

I have a 2000 XJ with 3" RC lift on 31's and 79, 000 miles that I bought a month ago that is my DD.  It is otherwise stock.  Even though you had a bad experience with the rain gutter mounts from Yakima, I still recommend those.  I used to sell Yakima racks for REI and the rain gutter mounts are far more stable than the roof mounts.  You want to be able to shake the entire vehicle when you grab the rack rather than just shaking the rack.  Avoid hitting trees and you'll be fine.  Some TruckLite LED's would be a nice headlight upgrade.

I have on my 2000 xj daily driver 4.5 RC xlift with 33 all terrains exhaust the 4 nozzle fuel injectors and rear locker since it's a 2wd unfortunately but does very well for a DD and mild trail rig thinking of adding a front prerunner winch bumper for lights and wench if I need it also thinking of adding a trans cooler for the heat of summer here in the south

3 inch lift max, can cut the fenders out more than the 4 door model so could still fit some decent size tires. A nice front bumper with winch that would match the back bumper. Maybe a detroit rear end and some good rocker guards to match the bumpers. Maybe some of the things that was done to the zombie Jeep also.

I would do like a 3 inch lift on 31"s, definitely a new front bumper

I've had to relegate myself to need-based modifications due to finances. I need to concentrate on just keeping my '92 XJ with 309K miles running. It creaks, sags, rattles, and wobbles but it gets me to work. I also transport kayaks, mountain bikes, and pull a trailer so those accessories are important to me. Larger tires and aftermarket bumpers and suspension would just be bling at this point for me. I can still dream though.

2 doors, very nice .
Some big tires will be fantastic.
Hugs from Brazil.

I think for a daily go the cheap way and stock-ish way. Do maybe a 2" budget lift and 31s on steel wheels, maybe some racks and other things
