SSR SR189 Review

My review and walkaround of the SSR Motorsports SR 189 that I purchased for my 12 year old son. This is a step up from his previous KTM 65sx that he was riding as he grew over 6" in six months! He got to big for it too quick and this bike is a perfect fit that should last him for a couple of years before having to move up again! Why didn't I get him say just a regular 85 like a KTM, Honda, ect.? Have you seen the new and used market prices lately? Wowzers!! That and I'm about doing things differently. No this isn't one of the "big 5" manufacturers, but for the performance, looks and price point this thing cant be beat! A little over $3000 new out the door, I couldn't touch a late model used bike for that price, and this is new! I give detailed specs of the bike and and a detailed up close look at the bike. I give my honest review of the bike including all the pros and cons.

I’m 30 & just bought one of these & for the money I love this bike. A really fun little bike I been giving it hell & its holding up great.. it’s a little heavy for a small bike. SSR has come a long way. Great Review 🤘🏼

I love this bike, A lot of guys say it's too small for me (5'7" 210 Lbs) but I LOVE It, I can easily load it up in my short bed tacoma and ride trails... Big dirt bikes just never seem appealing to me....

My son got me into dirt biking, so at 53, I am pretty new to game.
Two weeks ago I purchased a Kawasaki kx 85 - which is a light 2 stroke rocket. I took it on some dirt trails and don’t think I ever got out of first.
Clearly - that kind of power was a bit much for me.
This looks to be a perfect compromise for me at 1/3 the price of the Kawasaki. I have heard of some carburetor issues on these, so I might just have them throw on a different carburetor so thats not in the back of my mindz

Bought a 2021ssr 189 for my son awesome little bike. But it does have the bogging issue when you smash Open the throttle. Hopefully that will break in it's still brand new. Otherwise we'll bring it back to the dealer see if they can adjust it. I also own a k lx140g for myself. Like riding the SSR better. More power. I used to own a YFz 450 quad. It would be the hell out of me. I'm 50 now and enjoy riding these lower powered trail bikes. There are a lot of fun and easy to manage . LOL want to be able to go back to work on Monday after riding. Great little bike for trail riding and maybe some small jumps.

Very helpful video. I was out looking to get my wife a different bike she currently has a ktm 105 but wants an electric start. We looked at honda's but they were either 2 small or too big seat height wise. We went to the KTM dealer and they had one of these ssr 189's and she really liked it size wise. I think we will be buying one soon. Thanks for the helpful review.

Great content with these bikes!!
I got a buddy that busts my chops about me on my 2020 Coolster M-125 125cc Medium sized DB. It maneuvers me around the dessert and tight trails quit nicely, and I still get smiles per mile on it at age 47 at 5'10 here in Az. 🏜
I still keep up with everyone, as I guess its all about the rider Lol.

Do you know what the top speed is stock ssr125s go 50 to 55mph can this bike go 65mph+

If it had 18” and 21” wheels and a few tweaks here and there it would be that much better.

Hey, just stumbled on your channel and really liked the content for the bikes. Seems that most videos for small budget bikes such as the SSR are just taken from a GoPro. Getting tired of watching from some 14 year old riding in some pasture. Keep up the content and I will keep watching and spreading the news about your channel.
