My husband and I went to there approx 20 yrs ago when not many people visited the temple. We climbed all over it but I think it's a very good idea to prohibit people from doing so. However I'm glad we had the opportunity to have a full immersion experience. I'll never forget how amazing it is.😊

I visited Borobudur and Prambanan back in the mid 90’s. Both amazing temples to see in person. I don’t remember it costing so much at Borobudur but then again many years in between.

Seems I've been lucky to still be able to climb the Borobudur temple. Actually, it wasn't super crowded end of August 2018, just on the top...

Visited the temple the first time i came to Indonesia back in 2012...My now wife paid Rp30k to get in and i paid Rp120k as a foreigner..

It was great to go to see the Temples Damian....
It is a shame that there is no access to go to the FOR ME IS A HUGE PART OF THE ALLURE OF VISITING SUCH AN INCREDIBLE SITE....BUT I do understand the need to protect the structure and possibly its Energetic and Sacred Integrity, as people want to go there, many of which its just an instagram to do...tick the box...and dont actually GRASP ITS A SPIRITUAL AND SACRED
SITE....AND NEEDS ABSOLUTE
RESPECT FROM ANY AND EVERY INDIVIDUALWHO VISITS.
Considering you can only look at it from ground level, THE ENTRY PRICE IS TOO HIGH.

In Indonesia, it is muslims that are actively rebuilding temples and those Ramayana dancers are all Javanese muslims. Compared in India, where they have demolished numerous historic mosques....but of course, it never went viral.
