Florida's oldest veteran celebrates another birthday

Florida’s oldest living WWII veteran celebrated his 108th birthday in Clearwater on Tuesday. Bill Monfort was born on December 17, 1916. "I lived a long life, and then I have many, many, many, many friends – not only here, but all over the United States," Monfort said.

the big story about Bill is what he has done for disabled children to allow them to have full life. He told me when his daughter was born she was disabled and needed care that he couldn't give her. And, he said, that there was no place for children like her, so he started one. Today he is Chairman Emeritus of four assisted living homes. His daughter is living in one and likely the reason Bill keeps going. What a blessed and kind soul.
