Adding knee high compression socks when you’re walking will save you from a lot of pain. And stretching, foam rolling, etc.

I don't have a high enough desk to be able to work while at the same time using my walking pad, but I think it's great for a quick workout session at home. Lately, I've been catching up with Tarantino's filmography by taking long walks after dinner. It allows me to move while doing something chill at the end of the day and to go to bed lightly sore so that I'll be able to fall asleep even faster, something I couldn't do when I'd still spend all that time sitting on the couch instead. I love it.

I think a lot of the drawbacks with it you're having can be alleviated quite a bit.

Slowing down to about 1-1.5mph would take a lot of the distraction and accuracy in using mouse/keyboard away, and it'd make it easier to build up the willpower to do it more regularly. I'm guessing people who take this slow walking approach are much more likely to stick with it, and get more benefit in the long... walk.

It takes quite a bit of effort to get setup like that, moving the chair, putting the pad in place, raising the desk, it's not much I know but we don't need much to put of off things, look at the dishes in everybodies sinks for example.

A large monitor with low resolution can also be a good help with legibility of what's on screen when your head is bobbing from walking, and a large mousepad with low mouse sensitivity can help with mouse accuracy. Also a rest for your forearms is good to get because it stabilises your hands and takes the pressure off of your wrists which over time saves pain/injury.

I LOVE my walking pad. I recently had a baby and work from home and this seemed the easiest way to get movement and exercise during the day. After the first week I had a HUGE increase in energy and feel way better. I did have to get a standing desk as well to be able to use it though.

I love walking pads! I want one so bad since I don’t have a good neighborhood to walk in but I’m worried it would turn into a clothes hanger like a treadmill 😂 it’s just easier for me to consider walking inside than driving somewhere to walk. I hope that makes sense

I can agree on just feeling overall healthier when I walk on my walking pad! I haven’t walked in so long but this made me motivated to get at least an hour a couple times a week!!

I got my walking pad last week and it’s already made such a difference. I feel more productive and my back pain is much better

That was great review! You answered the very questions I was wondering about and you inspired me to commit to it! Thanks again!

You need to be doing this on 0.5 - 1.0 miles per hour, over 2-4 hour periods (or more if you want), similar to the casual walking pace youd be doing if you were walking around with friends at the park or around your neighborhood. The reason why everyone reviewing this says they cant stay consistent is because youre all trying to fit in a full work out while working which is NOT feasible. Do as little as you need to that can allow you to focus and stay on it for 2-4 hours, and over the long term I think you'll love it.

What if you walked slower, like 2.5 or 2? Could you focus better or walk longer? I'm thinking about getting a walking pad so watching videos as research

Why did you feel the need to still do 12/3/30 if you walked more and burned more calories using the walking pad??Do you think the calories and miles on a regular treadmill are more accurate than the walking pad since you mentioned not being sure if it was pretty accurate. What are your thoughts on it being used not while working but as one’s sole workout maybe by watching tv or listening to music or a podcast for weightloss purpose??Did you feel like your heart rate got up enough to even feel like cardio?

What standing desk are you using? Do you like it?

I don't understand why anyone who is remotely healthy would ever sit at a desk. I bought an automatic standing desk and a new chair last year. First thing I did was move the chair to the other side of the house and unplug the elevation motor. I'm so much more efficient standing (and not sitting is healthier). I work from home and haven't sit down in over a year. I'm absolutely getting one of these.

Just a suggestion, but I think you should get more of an office/ desk/ task chair with wheels that adjusts.

Does your watch properly track the workouts or do you have to add it in manually?
