Inspired By The Alice In Chains Guitarist’s Les Paul Custom

Inspired by Jerry Cantrell’s iconic Les Paul™ Custom, this guitar has many personal touches, including a Dark Wine Red finish over a plain maple top and 9-hole weight-relieved mahogany body, gold hardware, Grover® Rotomatic® Kidney tuners, an Alnico Classic PRO™ humbucker™ with a gold cover in the neck position and an exposed coil 98T PRO humbucker in the bridge position. The mahogany neck has a Cantrell custom taper, and Jerry Cantrell’s name appears on the truss rod cover in white script, while a JJ logo appears on the back of the headstock. A custom hardshell case is included.

I think I watched this and the normal Custom and IBG Custom videos multiple times... while I still might get the new IBG Custom as well I picked one of these up that arrived today. It's phenomenal! I did have to clean up the fretboard, polish the frets and do a full setup but once done it's an amazing instrument for the price... almost a steal for $849! Thanks for the great details in these reviews, they definitely helped me make my decision!

Bought this last year and upgraded the pups to the Gibson 490R and 498T, Switchcraft switch and locking Grover tuners. Great guitar! 👍

I have one. I think it is the best Les Paul for the price. I have put Gibson pickups on it to make it more the real thing, but honestly the stock pickups were very good too.

The neck profile is great but the frets needed some polish.

I love this guitar as I am a sucker for the Wine Red with gold hardware. I replaced the neck pickup with a SD '59 and the bridge with a SD JB. Oh and the JJ stand for Jerry Cantrell Jr which is interesting that they didn't use JJ Jr like they did on his Friedman signature amps.

UPDATE:
I made a comment right after i purchased one online . I was originally hoping for one of the darker colors because I wasn't aware that it was a translucent even when you mentioned that you couldn't see too much wood grain on the guitar that you're reviewing.. but I have to say, in the lights it is absolutely a beautiful plain top and I would also say after 40 years of playing Anthony several 4A tops from Gibson ~ this would be a 4A plain top.. no mods really needed, at $850 w/ nice hardshell case. If you're just playing or starting or playing gigs, this one you can't afford to let go ~ not at that price.. there will be one mod, I'm going to change the truss rod cover to hey Les Paul Custom cover rather than just one writing Jerry Cantrell on it ..

Was curious about the sound of those pickups. Now I know.
Not bad. My perfectionist side doesn't scream at me too bad. Barely at all.
*Absolutely Love the color!* Been bouncing around between this one or the Epi Custom w/real pearl block, actual Gibson cut headstock and actual Gibson pickups. Just can't seem to pull the trigger paying $1300 for the Custom with this guitar staring me in the face! Still, .. the Epi Custom, .. I'm on the fence.

Great video but that’s not a ProBucker in the neck. It’s an Alnico Classic Pro, same pickup that comes in the base model Epiphone Studios. Notice the sticker on bottom side letters said ACP. Not PB2.

There is a common misconception that you stated that I also hear a lot of people make a mistake on.

The regular base model Les Paul custom, ALSO have an Ebony board!

Every time I hear a gear review channel talk about the signature models, one of the things they always say is that “one of the upgrades is a true Ebony fretboard”

Geez, I bought the alpine white Epi Les Paul Custom brand new off the Guitar Center wall, same headstock as that, I’m guessing same production year. When I took it apart to do a pickup upgrade the inside looked like a beaver was running loose in the cavities. Total hack job. Saw dust was spilling out the output jack, they painted over sawdust. Splinters hanging down like stalactites. I sent the pictures to Gibson/Eliphone and they said that was normal in overseas guitars. 😂 I have a Japanese IBZ RG570 original, a UV777, ESP/LTD H207 those are clean all the way through. 🤷‍♂️
