Super. Towards the end, Tyco quit putting the handrail kit in with the locomotive, but a whole lot of locomotives never had their handrails installed by their owners, or had them pulled off when they were being played with, or the kits were never even seen in the box, because it is a small wrap of plastic package that sometimes sticks to the box, the parents didn't want them, or, sometimes the kit was just thrown out. All of my Mantua/Tyco locomotives came with a handrail kit, and I think that my locomotives look much better when they have them installed. Take heart Tyco fans, I still have two Powertorque drive units that survived my childhood and continue to earn their keep on an operating railroad. (And seven Mantua/Tyco MU-2 drive locos + some steamers. 🙂 ) One ALCO C-630 "Super" Century and one Baldwin RF-16 Sharknose have what it takes to operate on my railroad, and became the last of seven bought new Tyco Powertorque drive locos on my railroad. These almost 50 year old locomotives operate just fine, MU great with my more modern locos, are smooth and quiet, and have outlived the other five units by decades. (You make 10, 000 train models, and one or two turn out to be something extra special.) The five that died, some with a nice smoke show and parts left lying on the floor, were converted into lighted, weighted, detailed dummy locomotives, two of which have snowplows added so that I can plow the snow with them. All of my older locomotives and rolling stock have a nice paint patina from all of the operation, rainy weather, snow, sunshine and maintenance they have seen, and it makes them look very realistic. The ALCO C-630 Century usually works with a Life-Like ALCO RSC-3 or an Athearn GE U33C, and if the Shark needs help with the passenger train, it usually gets assistance from an AHM FM CFA20-4 C-liner or an Atlas EMD FP-7A unit. About 15% of my locomotives, (Steam and diesel.) and about 25% of my rolling stock are Mantua/Tyco models that I bought when I was a kid, back when a 40 foot Quad Hopper car or a Tank car or Wood Reefers were only $1.19 each, and an EMD F-7A or a ALCO C-430 Locomotive could be had for $12.95 plus tax. My railroad didn't allow some of my purchased locomotives to survive as power units, and I now have nineteen fully lighted and detailed dummy locomotives, from many different train model manufacturers, and I have never bought an unpowered dummy loco in my life. Hello from the Tracy Mountain Railway in Colorado. 💙 T.E.N.

The Spirit of 76's didn't come with handrails. Actually, most of these engines didn't come with them. They had to be added from an accessory kit.
