I was a Uhaul dealer for 8 years.
I enjoyed it and made good money.

it’s a different experience for each uhaul dealer. If you have the manpower and extra time you aren’t spending on your primary business, it can be a great way to earn additional income. People aren’t mentioning that the local rental rates are usually $20/30/40/50 per day for the truck depending on size, plus .99¢/mi. (During week) and $1.09/mi. On the weekends. Plus extras like insurance, Dollie’s, blankets. You also can charge cleaning fees if appropriate. So it’s not uncommon to see local rentals for $200-$300. I’m a current Uhaul dealer from our storage facility and we rent a lot of trucks and do pretty well with them but it is a lot of time and effort.

If anyone understands the car rental business then you know that you're going to make between $1000 - $1500 a month per the goal is always to add more cars, trucks, merch and other ancelary things to see profit....the most successful dealers are a full service dealer... your marketing plays a big part as well.... with your already existing and functioning business you shouldn't worry about how slow things are going to build up your dealership....itll happen... always embrace and respect the process.

It seems like if youre getting sales for out on state moves youd make more money. If someone rents a truck for $20 then drives 20 miles youre only making $8. The truck i picked up was $290 ($380 after environmental and rental tax plus insurance which the desler doesnt make any money off of ) so the dealer only made $60 from me going to a lock box picking up a truck and driving off

I'm currently a U-Haul dealer, plus I own a small busines. It's not worth the money to be yelled or treated disrespectful by these Texas Uhaul renters. They feel you should drop what you're doing and get them their Uhaul ASAP because their are 1 hr late for pickup and have their movers coming in 20 mins.
