FORECAST: Very hot finish to the work week

Fair skies will dominate area skies this evening while a south southwesterly breeze cruises in at a moderate clip offering some relief from the heat and humidity of the day. Overnight skies are expected to stay mostly clear while a steady breeze blows in helping to hold temperatures in the upper 70s overnight. The warm start to the day Friday will send temperatures by lunch time into the lower 90s before the afternoon heat sends area thermometers into the upper 90s when the heat of the day arrives. Heat index values will top 100 degrees making for a very hot finish to the work week. Isolated showers and storms will likely remain north of the metro this weekend followed by Sunday night storms along a cold front that will push through cooling our area by the first of next week.
