Me: Dr. Fin, is it bad?
Dr. Fin: *screeches and clicks at me* It's just a hairline fracture but you're going to have to take it easy for a few weeks
Me: Thanks doc. *tosses him a fishy*
Dr. Fin: *does a backflip*

Octopus are really bizarre too. I think my favourite thing about dolphins is that they each have their own personal name. I find that thought to be thrilling. If humans don't destroy the planet first, I think we'll figure out how to have meaningful communication with them someday. If they had digits like Coco or Washoe, we would already be there. They are wonderful and beautiful creatures!

Dolphins can usually tell if a woman is pregnant, even when she’s not showing. Sometimes even before the woman knows it herself.

The ultrasound detection was interesting, but the idea that they could transmit an image, not description via sound, and instantly understand it is incredible. Their speech baud rate must be fantastic. It would be like hooking a speaker to computer communications, and understanding it. They might speak (download) a book in the time we need to read a page, or paragraph. We can walk into a room, and visually take it in effortlessly. Their speech, and hearing might be similar.
We have cameras, and screens, but speaking images is beyond our cyborg technology. We can speak descriptions. How does one translate spoken images? Porpoises may be superior only lacking hands to create technology.
If it is only descriptions then it means they have a complex language with abstract symbolism. We are not alone.

Someday, maybe, bioengineer arms and hands for 'em? But FIRST, ask if they want arms and hands. Their choice.

They‘re telepathically LOLling about the stupid humans all the time. “Look what they‘re doing now, YouTube channels! SOFL! Why don‘t they just beam their movies into each other‘s brains like we do?”

Ive had fun watching joes shorts progression. As a subscriber I think id like a balance of comedy and informative shorts. Though I do think id like more random or left out facts as opposed to things that were already highlighted in the main video. Im not a new viewer or really a shorts viewer so take this for what it is, but waking up to Joe bringing some facts or showing off his creativity has been good for my mornings.

I like the new shorts better. They're more cohesive and feel like they were designed specifically for shorts.

Lovely to hear that it's been confirmed that they can send images to one another. It occurred to me that this should be possible, perhaps 15 years ago, when working with a bunch of oceanographers. I do wonder how long a glyph could be culturally preserved without the original event recurring.

This idea that dolphins (or us.. if we developed the technology sufficiently) could project images to other dolphins, occurred to me in the 70s, while still in Jr High School. I asked my science teacher. He and the class laughed and laughed and laughed... started calling me Flipper, and telling me to send pictures... I never lived it down. "EMOTIONAL DAMAGE!!!"
(Bullies be like that)
NOW! --- It's supposed to be self evident. "Everybody knows that!..."
Why! We've even got our own versions... Side Scan Sonar! Under $500! Install it on your boat today!

I received the same treatment in elementary school when I pointed out that the coast of Brazil fit almost perfectly into the west coast of Africa. This was the 60s, before Plate Tectonics went around the block...

Still pi**es me off. I'm still reluctant to speak in front of groups.

And! Worse yet, this behavior is far too common amongst scientists. So quick to ridicule new ideas that challenge the common consensus... until enough evidence has them crawling back, "Hhmmm! Hhaaww! Why, yes... That's the nature of science, you know... We are always updating our understanding.., you know. One must --- !Vigorously! --- defend one's position, you know. Until it is --- Rightly --- replaced with a better understanding, you know..."

And never a word about their deplorable behavior towards others. Certainly, never an apology. Can't have "The Keepers of the Secrets", the Wizards or their reputations soiled with such drivel.
