Dan was my father in law. He passed this car onto my wife after he died. We still drive this car often. He was a man of many talents, an undeniable hot rodder and could do anything with his hands. Thank you for keeping this video up

There's still a orange one here in Saskatoon, not sure if it runs I used to see it every summer. Those are very cool cars. I never knew it was built in New Brunswick Canada.

I didn't even know that Canada had any sort of auto industry. I know of a jet fighter plane that was manufactured for a time. This is an eye opener.

I love the look of those. I know, crappy build quality but awesome cars. Like a Pantera younger wielder brother

It was a 75...so horse power was low...

If I could I would have a Bricklin and a DeLorean. Love the styling and the rarity! Thanks Scottie!

Was not built in Windsor Ontario, Canada The engine was - for the 75s. The car was built in St. John, New Brunswick, Canada.

Thanks for sharing. I just picked up a 1974 #445 this past summer. Love it. Mine like he said has the AMC 360 with the 727 automatic transmission.

That's a slick car. Too bad they stopped making them.

Thanks for posting this, Scottie. Remember, there's only one 'R' in acrylic. 'Uh-Krillick'. For those who are interested, there is a very good documentary on the Bricklin's history, including interviews with Malcolm Bricklin, the hype man behind the car.

Great video.  I was in high school from 1977 to 1980 and one of my classmates would get picked up everyday by her father in a safety orange Bricklin, , , thought it was so cool with the gullwing doors.  I knew they were super rare and always thought they were pretty cool looking as well as a bit mysterious.

I did an oil change on one of these a while back. Probably one of the coolest cars i have ever seen

Any idea of what linear actuator he was using? Looks like a nice upgrade. Love the speed of the doors.

As a seven-time owner of SV1's, allow me to clarify two simple issues. The five safety colors did not include a Gold Color, though I have seen at least one custom-painted in a nice Gold. Safety White, Tan, Orange, Red and Green were the five. A black Chairman model was planned for the 77 model year, but sadly they never made it that far into the future. Secondly; the bumpers were capable of withstanding far greater than a 5 mph range, though that certification number was still twice the federally required strength. My sixth Bricklin, suffered an unfriendly encounter with a center divider on a California highway at 55 miles per hour. The front bumper essentially absorbed 96% of the total impact damage to the body itself, while frame damage was a 7.75 inch compression of the right side of the frame, and 7.25 inches on the left side of the car. Those bumpers utilize synthetic rubber like Neoprene, laid over a solid steel bumper with two 2, 500 pounds of inertia rams behind them, offering 11 inches of travel before doing severe damage to the engine bay up front . I walked away uninjured and the car was repaired and still on the road today.

There is no finer example of a safe sports car IMO, that can touch the Bricklin SV1 from a durability point of view...even by current standards through more modern equipment and internal airbag protection. Even the equivalent year Porsche 911 is not superior to it's strength.

The linear actuators seem to work really good.. I always thought they would be too slow for the doors... I would love to get some for mine what type, size etc do you have?
