PRS along with Charvel are the only guitar companies I see doing unique things with their wood choices and finishing. The guitars from a design perspective are pretty simple but enough to separate them from the competition. They're also extremely consistent across the board. Just bought an SE 245 and its outstanding! One day I'll get something like this.

I bought a used 594 S2 in Satin Faded Grey Blue Burst a few months ago. The S2 range are amazing guitars.
I wonder if they'll do another limited run in the satin colors. The back of the neck was also satin instead of gloss which I think quite a few people would prefer.

Love the sounds of those. I wanted a core Custom 22 in Charcoal Cherry but they don't make it now. You can say what you like about the sound of an ebony fretboard, but a 22 definitely sounds different from a 24 fret guitar. The red one definitely sounds better than the blue one (being silly.) PRS definitely does something to the pickups. I don't know what it is but they are mega-powered.

People always forget that between the s2 and core is the ce24, all American made w/bolt on neck.

People always talk down on the s2 pick ups and I really don’t understand why. I have a les paul standard and although a difference sounds I wouldn’t say better just different. I love my S2 McCarty it is a hell of a guitar, if it was double the price I would of still bought it. **UPDATE** played a core model with the 58/15LT today, went straight home and ordered a set as fast as my fingers would allow me. What a killer set of pickups! Noticed a big difference in person that I could not hear as much watching videos.
