The Holy War | College Football's BEST Rivalry | BYU vs. Utah

When you think of incredible college football rivalries you might think of Michigan vs. Ohio St. or Alabama vs. Auburn. But what if I told you that the greatest rivalry in college football actually takes place in the beautiful state of Utah?

BYU and Utah have faced off against each other over a HUNDRED times! Most recently BYU defeated Utah in 2021 as their latest matchup but it wasn't before Utah went on a 9 game winning streak! Now, with the new conference realignment, BYU and Utah are guaranteed to play each other at least once a season. And the viewers are going to be given quite the treat!

The two schools have immense amount of hatred and animosity towards one another. Getting into fights, pulling pranks, and claiming to be "Holier Than Thou". Settling their scores on the big field, shoulder to shoulder, helmet to helmet, unyielding until their opponent blinks first.

I'm incredibly excited for this matchup to become alive again and so should you!

The first time BYU and Utah played each other was a baseball game in 1895.
It ended in a bench clearing brawl, allegedly after a pitcher threw the ball into the opposing dugout.

As a Utah fan this video is awesome! I’m excited to get back to the Holy War Rivalry yearly. I consider myself lucky that my team still gets to experience a more than 100 year rivalry after this round of conference realignment. It’s ruined a lot of old traditions. Utah has dominated them rivalry recently, no doubt. Better money, better access to recruits, better everything. These things cycle. Probably best to try and treat each other with dignity and respect, just because, we are, I think, all human.

A guy from Georgia lived in my neighborhood and would laugh at the holy war because of how nice everyone was to each other. People would say things like “I hope Utah wins every game except one” or “I like Sitake and want him to do well, ” where he was used to pure hatred. I think that’s why Utah has dominated the rivalry recently because of Whittingham’s absolute disdain for BYU. I don’t mind the hate. Don’t be a dick to each other outside of the game, but I’m totally cool with some serious animosity surrounding the game.

I am a true blue cougar fan. There's a freight train full of emotion. It's not just the state of Utah. 75% of Idaho and both schools have many fans worldwide. Not everyone in Idaho is a Smurf turf fan. I'm glad it's back and glad the world sees it. It's not Ohio vs Ohio st. It's not Oklahoma or Oklahoma state. Ect ect.
