Thats why being ageless or Immortal is a sad life you watch all the people you care grow old and die while you remain forever young living a lonely life because no one will remain by your side forever because of their mortality. Thats why we where made to be mortal for a reason

I knew that there just had to be a flashback sequence of their time together. Still didn't make this scene any less heartbreaking.

I wish Maquia had a whole anime series where she makes new relationships and travels with Barlow(the merchant) around the world, helping others out. And then at the end of it, it would reveal Maquia as a history professor telling all these ancient stories to little kids for fun and university students in a very advanced society. It would be SO FREAKING AWESOME!

I like how through the montage they showed the development of child's attitude to his mother. First we adore our mothers, at teenage period we keep distance but at the end comes back and realizes how much dear the mom is

It's okay because in the end she never regretted having loved him because she loved him with all her heart even knowing that he would die first.

I saw this in theaters, they only had 2 showings ever in my entire state... no one stood up during the credits... we all had to take time to stop crying and get ourselves together... I have it on Blu-ray now and I watch it when I’m in a BIG MOOD and just need to let it all out. No movie has ever made me sob, except this one. I was still tearing up and crying on the drive back an hour later.

I love the deliberate directing choices they made for the film-- like not explicitely stating how much time has passed in order for the audience to understand Maquia's position, in the sense that in her long life the concept of time to her is essentially non-existent. So when we suddenly see Ariel getting older without so much as a warning it shocks us to think this is how Maquia feels. So powerful.

I was screaming soo loud when Ariel and Maquia had a chance to meet after the war and REALLY Hope Ariel would hug her and Maquia wouldn't leaves Ariel
That's it.. that's when my heart broke into pieces so many that Luffy is still searching for my one piece
