In this video, home renovation brothers Dave and Rich show you how to clean a Char-Broil infrared grill, fast and easy.

Cleaning this Char-Broil TRU-infared grill will only require a few tools. You just need a wire brush, some paper towels, and the great thing is that Char-Broil provides you with a special tool that will easily clean grids and the infrared grates.

All you have to do is take all of the components out of the grill, scrape all of the grids and grates with the Char-broil tool and wipe all of the residue out of the bottom of the grill.

I bought my first ever grill yesterday. It was the Char-Broil commercial 4 burner grill. Cleaning it seemed intimidating at first, but I did more or less the same thing as what I saw in this video and I know that in time I'll be able to do it more quickly with repetition.

I really appreciate videos like this. I watched this after my maiden grilling voyage and I feel more confident for next time.

Ok, so when do we get to the infrared grill cleaning?

Please be careful guys. Some of the newer char broil grills come with ceramic coated grates. Those are NOT meant to be cleaned with any kind of abrasive brush. Look at the manual on how to clean or even call them. If you do brush them with a wire grill you are braking off the coat and it will eventually end up in your food... that’s a no no

I have the same grill, I do the same but using oven cleaner on the 6 grills, fire box, cover and external body, I do it after each use and seasoning the grills with oil and heating them, it takes maximum 20 minutes. I repeat that after every use, the grill still looks brand new and 100% clean after long use.

I have the same grill, are the bottom emitter holes supposed to be visible when the top grates are placed? Or should they be covered? I couldn't find that information in the manual.

Char Broil also recommends that you put it on high for about 15 minutes or more to burn of excess residue. let it cool down for a bit, the brush it off. My Char Broil Infra Red grates are now spotless.

I made the mistake of using a wire scrub brush and scratched the porcelain which caused it to rust and flake off. So I bought the charbroil brush which isn’t metal but stiff non metal bristles. I have ordered new grills and will not make that mistake again! Stupid tax sucks!

My problem is not how to clean it but the fact that I have to clean it after every use unlike a non-infrared grill. This is because food and fat don't fall through and start burning with the next use. This is why infrared is a pain in the butt. Any suggestions on how to avoid this?

My grill's instructions say no wire brushes... only nylon bristle brush and the special scraper tool that came with the grill. Commercial Series with porcelain covered grates.

Would it be a bad idea to put those emitters through the dishwasher?

Not being an ass but doesn't a wire brush remove the porcelain coating. I have one of these and the nylon brush that sucks...

WARNING! Wire brush can lead to loose some metal wires on the grates an this can be picked up by food, then to the stomach and then the emergency room, there is a lot of cases documented. is better to use plastic brushes to clean the grates.

Add 15 minutes for wasp stings. Wd-40 works great on wasp stings.

That's either not an infrared grill or the infrared plates are not in it.

I bought a Char-Broil Infrared Grill with grillgrates (infrared emitter combined with grates - one piece). Absolute nightmare to clean. I want a grill to work for me, not other way around. I missed my old conventional grill. Don't buy into BS marketing.

You have to be careful when using a wire brush, I know a person who had a piece of the wire lodge in their intestines and had to get operated on to remove it, you must make sure that all of the bristles are off of the grates, strange but true!

I spray all the parts down with easy-off oven cleaner. Come back, spray them again about 20-30 minutes later. Hit all the parts with a gas powered pressure washer. Clean as a whistle..like new. Just wear shorts and rubber boots..and wear a hat. Nothing worse than getting old greasy burger shrapnel in your hair.
