Ο δρόμος των ποιητών στη Γλυφάδα
Οι ευκάλυπτοι ήταν για πολλά χρόνια το σήμα κατατεθέν της Γλυφάδας, την εποχή που τα «Αστέρια» ήταν προορισμός ταυτόσημος της ωραίας ζωής. Σήμερα, όσοι ευκάλυπτοι έχουν επιζήσει, αν και ταλαιπωρημένοι οι περισσότεροι και κλαδεμένοι άτεχνα, εξακολουθούν να σφραγίζουν το κέντρο του προαστίου και σχηματίζουν ένα έως τώρα πλήρως ανεκμετάλλευτο αστικό ξέφωτο κατά μήκος της πολυσύχναστης Γρηγόρη Λαμπράκη. Τα έργα που παραδίδει σταδιακά ο Δήμος Γλυφάδας μάς δίνουν μια νέα αντίληψη αστικού χώρου, με υπερτοπικό συμβολισμό.
Η αποκάλυψη του ολοκληρωμένου μέρους είναι ευχάριστη έκπληξη. Εκεί όπου υπήρχαν πέτρες και σπασμένα τσιμέντα, υπάρχουν στρωμένοι κυβόλιθοι και νέα δέντρα (αγριοπιπεριές), το υπαίθριο πάρκινγκ μεταφέρθηκε στο πλάι σε διαγραμμισμένη ζώνη και ο κεντρικός χώρος έγινε χώρος περιπάτου. Ο δραστήριος και αποτελεσματικός δήμαρχος Γλυφάδας Γιώργος Παπανικολάου μιλάει για τη Las Ramblas της Ελλάδας, κάνοντας αναφορά στον διάσημο δρόμο της Βαρκελώνης. Η υπερβολή είναι χρήσιμη, για να αντιληφθούμε το μέγεθος της φιλοδοξίας που είναι ευπρόσδεκτη και όταν ολοκληρωθεί το έργο ώς κάτω στην παραλιακή, η Γλυφάδα θα έχει χωρίς αμφιβολία έναν αξιοζήλευτο χώρο περιπάτου.
Η ανάπλαση πρωτοτυπεί καθώς η «Las Ramblas» στην Αττική ονομάζεται πλέον (ατύπως ή όχι) και Δρόμος των Ποιητών. Ανάμεσα στους κυβόλιθους και πάνω στα παγκάκια, ο διαβάτης μπορεί να διαβάζει στίχους Ελλήνων ποιητών, στα ελληνικά και τα αγγλικά: Σολωμός, Κάλβος, Καβάφης, Παλαμάς, Καρυωτάκης, Ρίτσος, Ελύτης, Σεφέρης, Λειβαδίτης, Δημουλά και άλλοι. Περπατάς και όλο και κάποιος στίχος θα εγγραφεί στη συνείδηση, όλο και κάποια επιθυμία για περαιτέρω διάβασμα θα αναδυθεί.

Take your walk and be accompanied by Seferis and Elytis, Palamas and Cavafy, Livaditis and Dimoula…
It may sound a bit utopian, but in the municipality of Glyfada they did it!
Last August, APE-MPE had presented the project of the big pedestrian street that was to be created in the municipality of the southern suburbs and which aspired to look like the famous Las Ramblas of Barcelona, as it starts from above and ends vertically on the seafront.
It is Lambraki Street and the project was divided into four large sections, two above the vertical street Lazaraki, which opened before Christmas and two below and has already opened the third piece and immediately follows the fourth that “falls” on the beach. It was at this point in time that the idea for the “Street of Poets” came about.
The occasion was the busts of two Greeks who have been awarded the Nobel Prize, George Seferis and Odysseas Elytis. Both were placed 1996, but in a secluded spot where few noticed them. So when it was decided to move to stand out, came the plan for a larger poetic dimension in this part of the sidewalk. Opera and done!
More lyrics by great representatives of modern Greek poetry, such as Seferis and Elytis, Kostis Palamas, Konstantinos Cavafy, Nikiforos Vrettakos, Tassos Livaditis, Kostas Karyotakis, of Maria Polydouri, Giannis Ritsos, Costas Varnalis, Kiki Dimoulas, Konstantinos Hatzopoulos and others, adorn the street and accompany passers-by, since they were placed in special shop windows on the ground, which are illuminated at night, but also as inscriptions on benches, written in Greek and English.
A problem occurred in this part of Lambraki Street with the small PPC building that exists there and damaged all the aesthetics, but it was impossible to tear it down or even move it, as it feeds the tram. So, it was decided to paint and “dress” with periodic exhibitions. Dionysios Solomos, Lord Byron, Rigas Feraios and Andreas Kalvos were chosen as the first “outfit”, thus honoring their great anniversary 35 years since his Revolution 1821. Anniversary events and tributes planned by the Municipality will take place at this point.
Right in front of the PPC building, both busts of Seferis and Elytis were placed, enriched with brief biographies and so they are now at the most central point of the road.
