A New 4K Visit to Michael Fremer's Listening Room

A videographer visited recently to produce this 4K room tour showing my current audio system, including some new products under review, and some records and accessories.

But before providing more details, please:

There's a similar room tour video shot years ago that's gotten 848,000 views. That sounds encouraging and most comments are positive but I think some people viewed it for the same reason they watch plane crash videos.

Some of the comments express a variety of emotions including outrage at the cost of the equipment that they think might be better spent feeding the poor, or claiming that none of this makes a sonic difference (especially cables, which make a big difference) and some expressing various anti-semitic tropes and the like, or the usual "snake oil" comments, etc.

So enjoy (or not)!

Thank you Michael. This was a pleasure to watch and listen to. You are what I call the Godfather of analogue. Your hard work and dedication has kept vinyl alive for generations to come.

Michael, I could listen to you all night. It is fascinating to hear you discuss your system and an education when you discuss music and pressings. Thank you ...please, keep going and keep sharing. You're a treasure.

FASCINATING! My equipment and music is not as high end as yours but when I showed my music to my teenage nephew he asked me did I scratch my records like a DJ? I gave him "THE LOOK" and told him sternly "these records are NOT for scratching!"

My father was had an overtly large record collection. While he was still alive, I asked him what was going to happen to all his collection when he died. He got a twinkle in his eye and told me he wanted all of his colored vinyl and picture discs to be melted into a big coffin for himself. He was smiling almost laughing by then. He then told me he wanted Mauler's unfinished symphony to be played at his funeral. I wasn't able to accomplish that either. I got his guitars and my sister ended up with his records with the intent to sell them. I will own his guitars until my last breath out of respect. Oh he also told me if he sat down and tried to listen non-stop to all of his records he couldn't do it. He would probably die first. He still kept buying records anyway. I now have a large collection myself and am "trying" to slow down my spending on them. More trying to listen and enjoy what I have. I've started fixing cassette decks/turntables for a hobby also as a hack.
Life is good.

Thank you, Michael. I enjoyed listening to your stories. What a gift to be able to bring music back to Brian Wilson's life, as he gave so much to us.

What a wealth of knowledge and experience of all things analogue! Some great stories too. Mikey is by far the best and most authoritative commentator on analogue audio equipment and has been for many, many years. Well, Stereophile's loss is the The Absolute Sound's gain. Hope to see you at this year's High End Show in Munich, Germany diligently filming all the new and exciting analogue products for those who are not able to attend. If there was an Analogue Hall of Fame, this man would be in it. Great video as always, Michael! Greetings from Cork, Ireland.

Michael, I’ve watched many of your videos, subscribed to the Tracking Angle magazine, and read your reviews for around 35 years but this video is truly special. I feel like I’ve gotten to know the real you for the first time. Thanks for making this.
