Hello Matt,
My name is David from South Carolina and I just discovered you here on YouTube.
I too love vintage instruments and your passion for vintage Conn is extra cool.
I am a Tuba player, but there is something very special about "vintage" Conn instruments - 20K sousaphone, 5J concert Tuba, 88H Trombone, 36B/38B Trumpets or there great American saxophones.
Been learning a lot from your videos...please keep them coming and continue to keep the heritage alive.
All the Best,
David

Thank you so very much for sharing. It's always a great day when there's something saxophonic from your channel.

The front e flat was also on some Martin tenors and extremely reliable. E flat fork was what I call it.

Thank You for showing this. The golden age.

Dear Matt Stohrer, Greetings to you. First, I wanted you to know how much I have enjoyed the videos I have been able to watch since I found your videos. Everyone is awesome. Thanks so much. I just got back into music recently, and I acquired an alto saxophone. I took a good look at it. Very happy with purchase, but I believe a minor adjustment is likely in order. One thing I could not find online, perhaps due to my own poor terminology skills in not knowing how to search for it, but when pressing the basic keys with the right and left hand, I could not find any information online on what this should do or not do as far as opening or closing holes. I wonder if there is a video explaining this in depth what should be happening when a key or lever is pressed. I also discovered something most peculiar with another instrument I have, which made me realize what ignorance can do if something is not working properly, and we don't even know it should not do that. One of my questions on this recent acquisition is...pertaining to the left hand first two fingers that press down the B and C in the Treble Clef, plus the F front key. How should they all function properly? I am not sure if it is or is not working properly, that is, as closing properly or if it is supposed to do what it is doing. Is there a video that simply walks a person through as far as pressing keys/notes and explaining exactly what it should be closing or opening, exactly? I would appreciate knowing. I would so appreciate watching something like this and be able to refer to it in the future as well. I believe it would be greatly appreciated by many for various reasons. I just have not found a video like this in my searches. I see plenty of videos showing how to press down which keys for which notes, but I have not seen a visual on exactly what should be happening on the instrument itself exactly. I might sound quite ignorant, but I believe if you saw where my confusion comes, you might understand why I really would like to see a video like this. If you know of a link to a video that might help me, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks so very kindly. God bless you in Jesus' Name.

Hi matt, firstly thanks a lot for these videos, I love your content .
And secondly I recently have bought an old selmer super series alto sax and I love it, the only problem is key noises ... keys are so clicky and noisy when I release them, I was wondering if it can be repaired or not ?
Again thanks a lot

Hi hope you are well in this sad times and safe. I wd lick get a bit of ur knowledge on metal M/p. I like them bec they are a lot smaller in the chops than rubber. I have a Durga4 (sop) but very bright, It has like a double baffle, about mid of table. If I was to take out the baffle would it take of some of the brightness from it ? Trying to find a small M/P with a darker sound Glen

Hey Matt! Very nice overview, and thank you! I think I figured out the “short-cut secret passage”...?
Since you say it seems to have no effect on the sound of the horn, I believe Conn had determined the same, perhaps getting the tube below a certain ID where it had an effect, and it is in fact... a spit/condensation drain, in lieu of a spit valve as found on a baritone’s top bow...? What say ye?
