How to install EPSON TX series scanner / printer driver in Linux

****How to get EPSON Stylus (in my caseTX117) scanner working?
It was hard time trying to get my epson scanner to work 'cause no driver comes with my Ubuntu 10.04. So with a help of ubuntu forums and some research i figured out how to do it in couple of moments. Here it is!

First, about the printer. It works with TX110 drivers, so when u first plug in the printer and the driver search menu pops up, and than says "didn't find driver for epson tx117", choose driver manually by selecting EPSON and then TX110.

SCANNER!!!!!!!!
In the webpage that opens scroll down and locate SCANNER DRIVER.

In the Applications -Graphics you will find the Linux Image Scan. Volila!!!!!!!

I'm hopeful about this.

My Epson 4180 Photo worked fine in Ubuntu 11.04. I made the sad mistake of "upgading" to Ubuntu 11.10 and many things stopped working. I got 'em all going except the Scanner.

I am not at home right now, but copied the URL of this video. I have high hopes, as you show some things I've not yet tried and were not on the Ubunutu Forums I've seen.

I'm almost ready to go back to Mac OSX, so I hope your methods still work!

Yes it work for my EpsonTX220 scanner.(when choose I choose EpsonTX 220).

@DixyOnlyne actually it is the same driver for my "tx117" and your "office bx300f". i found your model in this web page (1:29 on the time line) down below mine tx117. click on the descriptions below this video, i wrote it step by step, just replace the tx117 with your model. download the TWO packages and install with GDebi installer. let me know if you need any help)

Yes, I just looked and rpm only. From what I read, I have to use Alien to unpack the rpm files. So far, I just get multiple errors like "can't read script."

I have gdebi's gui program. How can I use the rpm files with that?

@554mdmd so i guess u miss the package called system-config-printer-kde, search for it in synaptic or kPackage whatever package manager u like. should do the trick

hi! if u use "sudo alien -d packagename.rpm" it will build a nice .deb file for u. dont forget to do it in the same directory your rpms are. i tried to convert and install with single command "alien -i" and yes, this gave me errors. but try just converting to .deb and then installing with gdebi or "dpkg -i". tell me if ok

Hi. I see that your scanner is in the list in avasys.jp . They provide .rpm files insted of .deb, but u can easily install it on any Debian based distro like Ubuntu, google it. I hope your scanner will work. Tell me how it is going or if u need any help
