I had the good fortune of having played Pia during a Simultaneous game (she played 40 opponents). She was such a inspiration and good natured sport. That was in the early 90ies not long after she had become a GM. And she still had time for be a good promoter for the game.

I think it’s so incredibly cool to think about how much of an influence Pia’s got to have had over the years. Both being such a talented and ruthlessly good player, whilst also teaching so many new players and making a new generation enjoy the game as much as she does. She’s sublime!
