'Pick of the Day' - 1960 Fender Telecaster (MJT Refin/Slab Board)

Показать описание
Trevor's Pick of the Day for this Monday is a really cool players-grade 1960 Fender Telecaster! The body was refinished and aged by MJT and there is an old neck position route for a mini-humbucker. Replaced electronics, pickguard, tuners, nut, frets and saddles. Bridge pickup is original and the neck pickup is a Lindy Fralin replacement.

Trevor plugs this awesome pre-CBS gigging beauty into one of our favorite Benson Monarch Reverb combo amps to give ya a feel for how the guitar sounds!

I remember buying a 1959 slab board tele with the clay dots, with the case and candy and a 59 tweed vibrolux with cover, both from the original owner with his sales slip. So clean they were. I bought them in 1986, and sold them in 1995 to help buy our first home. Nice stuff.

You guys do some of the best demos on YouTube. I can’t believe you only have 1.7k subscribers! I think in a years time there will be a lot more. Thanks for all the info you guys share with us and keep up the good work.

Wow, man! I love the demo. Just let that sucker ring out. Great ballsy Tele tone with a little strat bite. What a guitar. Well done, sir! I’ve always been fascinated with lefty absolutely speechless when it’s just played upside down and with a master’s touch. Something about the handful of guys who play lefty-upside-down....there’s that extra passion that went in to learning every note that right handed players miss. Truly impressed, brother! I’m a fan!

I have a MJT relic Strat very happy the relic-ing is so real. I just need to do some new pups in it the ones I have are ARLO prototypes and they sound good but a little hot for me

There is nothing prettier than an old white blonde Tele with a rosewood fretboard.

Trevor: Originally a natural finish--in 1960? I've honestly never heard or seen an example of that. Interesting.

Interesting intonation, low e&a saddle so far forward

So it’s strung up right handed or left handed? Do you play it with high e on top?
I was blown away cause I was expecting a right handed player great surprise

I had a 1960 Tele, it looked exactly like that. I actually didn't like it all that much as a guitar, there was nothing wrong with it, it just seemed so plain. This was in 1975 and it wasn't quite the rarity it is today. It was maybe a $275 guitar back then. It got ripped off.

Just wondering, shouldn't it have a single ply bakelite pickguard?

Am I right in saying that a 60's tele should have a 8 hole pickguard?

With all due respect, and from what I've seen of his work,  I can think of at least 3 other guys that could do a better refin that MJT. And if you're in the vintage resto market, then you know who I'm talking about.
