🥔 Time for planting potatoes!

Here you can see the traditional way to set potatoes in a lazy bed. Traditionally these would have been used in areas with poor quality soil and more adaptable for smaller areas of land.

The lazy bed is made with a loy spade, turning sods over to the soil side ready for planting. A steeveen is then used to create a hole to set the seed potato into, and to cover the hole over. These potatoes are from the shoots that sprout from the ‘eyes’ of seed potatoes.

There are many ways to plant potatoes and we’ll be showing you different methods, following the process through to harvesting and plate.
