****Warning - something had just hit the resort when we got there, looked like a really bad storm, it ripped up the pier and everything as well as the beachside villas - so the beachside area is not the best right now. It is going to take a while to recover so don't pay extra for those villas. There are also large sandbag eyesores in the water (which I didn't mind because I'm more of a pool girl but just want to put that out there if you're looking for that beachside experience this hotel isn't for you.) If you're looking for a jungle escape spa with amazing rooms then this is for you.****

ROOMS
These rooms are all open and wide aired. The high ceiling and wood accents gives the suite a bungalow feel. With the floor to ceiling glass sliding doors you feel one with the jungle, especially with the help of the large overhead fans. You can open the sliding doors and get a great fresh breeze! The patio faces the cenote which makes for a great view of the wildlife. Just watch out for the monkeys and coatis! There's a living room inside the suite, big comfy beds, a walk in closet, a huge wall sized mirror, and a spa of a bathroom.

LOCATION
This spa sanctuary focused resort is located about 40 minutes from the airport in the middle of Riviera Maya's beachside cenote jungle. There's a number of natural cenotes on the property and they did a breathtaking job of incorporating the resort and rooms into the natural flow of the jungle. From here, you're about a half hour cab ride to Playa Del Carmen's shopping district. There's a number of neighboring resorts around as you walk up the beach which you can overhear in the distance at night.

SCENE
Blue Diamond Luxury Boutique Hotel is very spa focused. They even have an onsite Shaman to help you on your meditation journey. They give guided tours of the cenotes and give a guided swim in the largest one. Since this resort is so spa based, there is no party scene at all. The music is mostly a chill vibe - if and when there is even music playing. They do have upbeat dinner entertainment and the bars are open late, but most tend to go back to their rooms after dinner. You will see the majority of people (mostly couples) bright and early walking or jogging the lush grounds.

FOOD
They have two main areas for food. Breakfast and lunch are always served waterside in the same restaurant (you can also order at your lounge chair). Dinner always requires a reservation and will either be waterside or at their cenote side fine dining restaurant. Most of their food has a Mexican flair to it and is order per dish, while breakfast has a buffet option set up also.

AMENITIES
There is a small gym on site with basic equipment and a Pilates studio. They have a number of meditation focused activities. Their spa experience is amazing, they even have a hot cave room you can do with the Shaman. There's a number of other activities you can do if you pay extra. There's no poolside entertainment as it's mostly a relaxing environment.

RECOMMEND FOR...
I recommend this resort for couples or honeymooners who are looking to keep to themselves or for solo travelers on a self discovery journey. I honestly part of me didn't even want to leave the room, it was so relaxing sitting next to the cenote with the sliding doors open just reading a book. You will leave feeling relaxed, refreshed, and one with the Riviera Maya's jungles.

Thanks. I enjoyed your video. I am considering this resort but some reviews have noted serious problems, broken air conditioners, no hot water, toilets that don't flush and a general lack of maintenance. Did you experience any of this?
