This video introduces organic polymers, looking at addition polymerisation and structure, properties and uses of a range of commonly used addition polymers.

Timestamp
00:00 Introduction
01:05 Addition Polymerisation
05:25 Polyethylene (HDPE and LDPE)
08:51 Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC)
10:19 Polystyrene (PS)
12:04 Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE)
13:28 Summary of Addition Polymers

Inquiry question: What are the properties and uses of polymers?
Students:
model and compare the structure, properties and uses of addition polymers of ethylene and related monomers, for example:
– polyethylene (PE)
– polyvinyl chloride (PVC)
– polystyrene (PS)
– polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) (ACSCH136)

What are polymers? What are addition polymers? What are the properties of addition polymers? What are the structure of polymers? HDPE vs LDPE What are the uses of polyethylene? What are the uses of PVC? What are the uses of polystyrene? What are the uses of PTFE?

Hi, Thanks for the video. I like the way that youre giving simple but straightforward explanation of the basic science and then include the example that we use in our everyday life. That way, it give me more understanding and easy to relate . Great video and thumbs up!

Why would it PTFE have dipole - dipole forces? C-F is a polar bond but the shape does not give the moleule a dipole
