IMO, buying/selling "prompts" is a total scam.. And a trend we REALLY do NOT want to go down. Imagine if they start trying to claim ownership of prompts, so that no one else can type those words into an particular AI.. yikes..

I was finally granted access to DALL-E 2 a couple days ago. For some things it's significantly better than Midjourney and definitely favors the photo-realistic style vs stylized/artistic. Midjourney is primarily well suited to surreal images. The cost difference is insane: DALL-E 2 is $195 for 1, 500 prompts and Midjourney is $30 for 1, 500 prompts. DALL-E is not worth the inane price difference.

I somehow got Dalle2 access overnight, I thought I wasn't gonna have a chance to try it but dang I'm so impressed by the results it produces. I can't wait to see this improve to even greater heights even with all the risks involved

I actually think selling prompts is fine to some extent. I know it's an unpopular opinion but hear me out.

Even with this bible of knowledge, you still need to: think about the details of your image, browse for what you want, formulate a coherent sentence for the AI (each read prompts differently), then you still need to experiment and iterate multiple times until you perfect a prompt. That is time consuming and therefore I do think elaborate prompts have some value. But only the really elaborate ones that give incredible results.

Of course in Midjourney discord everything is shared, including the prompt so you can copy paste what others do and tweak it. And yes I do think that's great and probably preferable.

But on principle I see no issue with selling good prompts if there's a demand for it. You know, as long as it's not scamming people by selling basic prompts.

Selling prompts is not the worst idea. I'm a 3d artist, and looking at results on midjourney, it's rare to see someone using it really creatively, or getting consistently good results. I can imagine in the future people becoming prompt brokers.

Consider this, everyone has a camera in their pocket and taking a photo has become easier than ever, but we still pay for photographers.

The free tools I have used up to now, Blue Willow seems to be the best. I believe it has great potencial and BW can be the next big thing in text to image

Are there any prompts that help get around messed up faces vs full body images? Seems like whenever i try to get a good detailed face the result needs to be zoomed in on the face, when i try to get the entire character into the image the face becomes trash. The harder i try to get a good quality body and face, the more the whole thing breaks down into mush.

Tbh I could get buying *custom* prompts for GPT-3, especially if you need it for an extremely specific task and tried prompt engineering it yourself quite a bit already

I think prompt-engineering is going to become an increasingly developed skill, and that it's only fair that people be allowed to charge for their time, effort, and expertise like any other service.

With that said, I oppose "copyright" and so-called "intellectual property" laws on principle. So as long as prompts aren't monopolized, I don't see the issue.
