NBA YoungBoy reportedly won’t be renewing his contract with Atlantic Records. According to Akademiks, the chart-topping rapper turned down $25 million to re-sign, bringing his time with the longstanding label to an end.

Akademiks made the claim during a recent Twitch session, saying, “NBA YoungBoy is leaving. He will not be resigning. He didn’t like their offers. I can tell you they offered him like $25 million, and he turned it down.”

I can't say I'm a fan of his music but good for him for standing his ground. As a well established artist, his fans will support him with or without Atlantic..

When you realize what your worth it’s hard to be bought.

If the words of preacher Akademiks, if a label if willing to drop that much on you then they believe you’re worth triple or even quadrupole that amount. Then you’re in debt to them for that amount. I hope the kid goes independent.

Glad he stood his ground. If he’s popular and going places someone else should pick him up.

This is what you call a SOLID individual who won’t break, bend or fold.

We need more like him in the industry. Show these labels that we can’t be bought just because you throwing a couple M’s at us. Salute Youngboy.

He's built his fanbase he doesn't need to sign an exploitative contract anymore. The independent grind will get him alot more money in the long run, shoutout to Youngboy.

Here’s a history lesson: Atlantic Records has done wrong ALL of their rap & hip hop artists. Case in point: Lupe Fiasco had a toxic relationship with them & he then went independent after his last album with them. Idk why people sign with them as a rapper

Since he can budget his next project on his own without help and he has a dedicated fan base, he should go independent. Plus, he has a lot of connects, so he wouldn’t be losing out on anything. Shout out to the dude for fighting for ownership.

Industry always trying to get over on the artist. Most of the labels arent in it for your best interests. They only want what's best for them and their money making. Ppl with the passion for the craft aren't in charge most of the time. Just people trying to get over on "uneducated" folks. Ra artists have gotten smarter and have learned from other people's mistakes. I'm glad he staying true to himself. Gotta get YOUR master ownership!
