One of the most beautiful songs ever written. Ever. If you've ever loved someone through an addiction, you hear it on an entirely different level.

Crocodile tears. I'm a recovered addict, and my ex husband recently passed. After a traumatic brain injury, he had succumbed to his pain and turned to street drugs. No one knew. He hid it well, believe me. And one day, he bought stuff that was laced with fentanyl. He died instantly. My YouTube was stuck on this song for an entire week after he passed. So many doctors and prescription pain meds for him throughout the years, and it just took him down. He was a wonderful man, and the best father to our boys. We need a better solution to pain management. For ANYONE out there who is struggling with addiction, you are not alone. Get to a meeting. Waive your flag around. We recovered people are everywhere and we will help to lift you up ❤

I know this song is technically about prescription addiction, but as someone who escaped an abusive relationship it's always resonated with me on a different level. The first time I heard it it made me think of how when you are emotionally manipulated and programmed for enough time, you get a hit of dopamine when you FINALLY receive anything positive from the person who is breaking you down and hurting you. And in the morning you can forgive them. But the cycle continues. It becomes an addiction in it's self, the reason it's so hard to walk away. I love this song, it always makes my heart ache but in a good way.

It’s funny because I remember this song from a commercial back around 2020 when my dad died from Covid. We would leave the TV on to hide those feelings of loneliness we felt. 4 years later, and having my younger brother pass away from an overdose last year, this song not only brings me nostalgia when we were all together, it burns a hole in my heart when I hear the lyrics. It was almost like a premonition for what we’d experience. Wish I could’ve been there more for him now that he’s gone. If you know someone who is struggling with addiction- of any kind- be there for them. You remind them of the happier person they used to be before needing to use all of these outside sources. Understand that it’s a disease and let them know you’re excited for them to find their old selves back but until then, you’re there to support with no judgement in the meantime. Sometimes all we need is a friend to openly talk
with and tell us these things. We want to do our best to keep all our loved ones here in the long run ❤️

This song reminds me of my grandma that died in 2018, we put her ashes on the beach, me and my family would visit her at the beach, it was her favorite place to go to, that’s why it reminds me of her, I was very sad but best part is, she’s now in a better place then she used to be😇
