You have to keep whiting ice cold from the water to the grease to keep them from getting mushy.

First fish you asked about was a croaker, second was a whiting. Both are the best cutbait I ever used, esp whiting. Whenever you want to hook up on some 4ft+ bullreds let me know I can show you how and where.

That’s a “spot” is what it’s called not bad size one there

Like others have said it's probably a Spot. There in the drum family. We get a lot in Chesapeake Bay and live line them for Rockfish aka Striped Bass.
