It took three hours, lots of muscle, and a few sheets of plywood to pull a nearly 12-foot-long alligator from Clear Creek, leaving a family counting its blessings after quite the scare.

Wife is watching the news like we don't have a babysitter 🤬

Call me weird, but if that was to happen to my child, it’s the last time they would be near that water

As the reporter stood near the waters at night doing live report about a recent incident of a very huge alligator in the waters, I can hear his heart pounding real fast from where I am.

As a Floridian who grew up next to the Everglades, and conducted research in the Everglades, always assume every body of water has a gator. From little my parents pounded that in my head, and even taught me to walk a lakes shoreline from afar before getting close and throwing my fishing line. I have swam, crossed, canoed, and wade in waters all over south Florida, be vigilant. Alligators aren't as aggressive as Crocs, but if you fit the bill of something they can eat (small pet, child, etc) they will try. Lots of people moving from out of state need to understand South Florida... it's the Australia of the USA. (Sharks, gators, salt water crocodiles, invasive camans, venomous spiders, venomous snakes, invasive lion fish, invasive giant pythons and anacondas, itchy plants, fire ants that can build floating homes, etc). Don't be absolutely petrified of nature, but teach your kids to be smart about it.

Oh my gosh… being a California girl, I would NEVER let my young children play at any time near the water’s edge in alligator country!! 😮😮😮

I can't believe the reporter is standing where he is. I hope he doesn't believe that's the only alligator in that water. Seriously I am glad this turned out pretty good.

I had to quit taking my little rescue dog with me when I'd go fishing at my favorite creek. She would always drink from the creek's edge when she got thirsty and the last time I took her I saw about a four foot gator easing towards her. I didn't want to harm the gator, he was just doing what comes naturally. Plus there were no houses around or people, except for an occasional fisherman. So, I just took my doggo to the park instead of the creek. Much safer for all concerned.

"I just happened to look back"
Probably to see if his wife was home early...

His wife should be more afraid of the baby sitter than the gator sightings
