Yes but you should also consider the experimenting aspect. Not all who try oil paint for the first time will go through with that medium necessarily.

buy once cry once. Although....You can buy cheap blues and reds, and buy expensive whites and yellows to save money. Those darker, vibrant colors can actually be really overpowering, so I use like I said cheap blues, blacks, reds, etc because even with the cheap stuff, a little goes a long way

I find a mix works good for me. Earth tones for instance are usually pretty loaded with pigment in the student paint. Unless your talking like Stevenson or old Holland where it's like all pigment. But Windsor and Newton compared to 1980 there isn't much difference in the earths and titanium white.

I want to get into oil painting so badly, but I don’t have any money at all. Buying professional quality is absolutely draining, but quality is the most important when it comes to paint (vibrancy, consistency, etc.). Money really crushes you as an artist 😭

What about when you're doing impasto technique? Does it still make sense to buy artist grade paints? I'm torn.

Interesting video but you don't always have to buy artist quality oil paints any kind of oil paint is fine it depends on what the purposes for Who cares whether the oil paint is cheap or not It depends on whether it does the job
