Durante siglos, la coca fue considerada como un alimento espiritual en la cosmovisión andina, construyéndosele un carácter místico que le remite no solo a la energía, sino también a la naturaleza de la vida. Debido a sus vitudes, que permite el acceso a lo sobrenatural y el contacto con divinidades como Apus, Achachilas Tata Inti, Mama Quilla, o la Pachamama.

During centiruies in the andean world view, the coca has been considered as a spiritual nourishment and a mystical nature was attributed to it due to the energy this plant porvide and also to the symbolic meaning it has in the dynamic wolrd-vision of the andean culture. According to andean people´s belief, the power of the coca allows them to get into a supernatural world and talk with deities such as the Apus, the Achachilas, the Tata Inti, the Mama Quilla or the Pachamama.
