Finding the Right Pump Flange Fit

Do YOU have the right sized flange?

In my experience - most moms aren’t and don’t even t realize it. I mean, when most pumps come with a 24mm and 27mm flange - it’s easy to think there are only two sizes!

Flanges come in sizes as small as 10mm and as large as 35! That’s a huge range - and getting the right sized flange makes a huge difference.

I recently took a great class on flange fittings and learned so much. Here are a few things to keep in mind:

⭐️ Measuring is helpful but it’s not the end all be all for flange fitting.
⭐️ When you do measure, adding 0-2mm is likely more accurate than the 3-5mm recommendation you see out there.
⭐️ The best fit is a flange that is comfortable, yields an adequate amount of milk and you feel “emptied” afterward.
⭐️ Elastic nipples is a problem, but often, it’s more an issue of a flange that’s too big.
