Muhammad Ali (1942-2016) was an American professional boxer and one of the most iconic and celebrated figures in the history of sports. Born Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr. in Louisville, Kentucky, Ali began his boxing career at the age of 12, training under the guidance of a police officer who recognized his talent.

Ali quickly rose through amateur boxing and won a gold medal at the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome. He then turned professional and began his legendary career as a boxer. Known for his speed, agility, and incredible endurance, Ali quickly became one of the most dominant and successful boxers of all time.

During his career, Ali won the world heavyweight championship three times, defeating some of the biggest names in boxing, including Sonny Liston, Joe Frazier, and George Foreman. He also became known for his charismatic personality, his controversial political views, and his outspokenness on issues such as civil rights and social justice.

Ali's legacy extends far beyond the boxing ring. He was a powerful symbol of resistance and activism, and his refusal to be drafted into the Vietnam War made him a hero to many. He was also known for his philanthropy, his work as a humanitarian, and his efforts to promote peace and understanding between different cultures and religions.

Ali passed away on June 3, 2016, at the age of 74, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. He is remembered as one of the greatest boxers of all time, as well as one of the most important and influential cultural icons of the 20th century. He received numerous awards and honors throughout his life, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Arthur Ashe Courage Award.

I remember this tribute Howard Cosell gave the champ. It was his 50th birthday. By the way he expressed himself to Ali, you can tell he really loved him, doing so with tears just pouring down his face. RIP Ali and Howard Cosell.

Can't stand Cosell, but
respect for Ali.
What a great boxer.
Wish he would have renounced his affiliation
with muslims, and taken back his Christian name
Cassius Clay before he died.
R.I.P.
