How I wish BYD would sell their cars in the US, but Republicans and Democrats would not let that happen. 😂

BYD Seagull will cost between 11, 500 and 14, 500 dollars in China (80, 000 to 100, 000 CNY), and obviously it will be more expensive in other markets.
Also, initially it will be sold with lithium batteries since sodium ones are still being developed by BYD, as we will see in a very few days at Auto Shanghai.
In addition, the instrument panel of the Seagull is quite different from that of the Dolphin. It does not have round air vents (at 4:15 you are showing Dolphin's dashboard), they are rather rectangular and in general, the horizontal lines of the panel are much straighter than those of the Dolphin.

I like this new battery! It's much safer then lithium and way cheaper. I hope they produce a battery swapping method, to swap out a battery fast to a fully charged battery. Only take 5 mins.👍🚗

They say sodium battery can be charged very very quicky in couple of minutes but doesn't have a long battery life. However many Chinese Electric car company provide the facility such that if you are the 1st owner you do not need to pay for the new battery and the next new battery. Keeping that in mind, sodium battery sounds more convenient.

updated today, The BYD Seagull is from 73, 800 to 93, 800 RMB in China, about 10800~ 13800 USD.

Consider the tariff and sales fee, maybe a little bit high in other markets.

The problem is we can't buy them here in Canada (nor US). If they are allowed to market
here at all, their prices would be double i.e. over 20 k US$, not particularly cheap as touted
in the subtitle. Too bad...

The price of lithium has come down around 65% over the last 8 months.

Give us a most basic car ( with heat / cold control ), with very reliable long life batteries, easy quick charging,
With lowest cost .

BYD is making our dream true .
Thanks

With China’s unbeatably low manufacturing costs, it’s just a matter of time before they dominate the market.

Cool car, I wish they'd make it even more basic.
I drive a Honda fit and this little car would be a good EV for me.

Questions:
>Is it street legal in all 50 U.S. states & with which limitations, -or- what it would cost in both parts & labor to get it legal.
>Full cost if imported, incl import taxes & shipping & total misc (bottom line sum total).
>Insurance rates for minimum req by law & for bank req to get auto loan.
>Annual tag/licence plate & vehicle registration fees.
> Parts & maintenance (access & costs of parts, labor, and consumables ... like fluids, filters, tires, Etc.).
>Compare sizes to Toy Hauler storage dimensions.
>For e-vehicles, can an Xtra battery fit in vehicle to swap out, &/or accessory charging options(?).
>Weather hardiness: heat, cold, rain, and water inundation "puddles" + tendency to hydroplane, annnd workarounds (like airfoils, rutters, Etc.)
>Ground clearance & workarounds (Ex: undercarriage protection + winch?).
> Accessories available via import vs in U.S.? Ex: Battery coolers!,
anchors to keep from flying away in wind during storms and hurricanes,
very tiny camp trailers like ones for bicycles, car-side canopies/awnings/ tents, lightweight roll bars, Etc.).

Did you know, that the Seagull is actually bigger than a VW up! ? Crazy for that price

This is a good thing since Lithium batteries produce a frighteningly enormous amount of toxic pollution just to manufacture one battery.

Yes, but not if it is manufactured in China. I fear disruptions when war breaks out over Taiwan or the South China sea. But admittedly, this is the car I was waiting for.

When it comes with Na battery, I'm getting one 😊

Let's hope this version doesn't explode like they do in China! Often.
