This ghazal was written by the renowned poet Akbar Allahabadi after 1857 mutiny of Indians against British rule. Backdrop of this ghazal is mutiny and it is a patriotic ghazal. Here word wine has been used as Simile for patriotism. So what and why so much hue and cry if I have drunk the meaning of this ghazal. US MAY SE NAHI MATLAB DIL JIS SE HO BEGANA means I don't want that wine which makes a man inebriated. MAQSOOD HAI US MAY SE DIL HI ME JO KHINCHATI HAI means I want that wine which aches my heart ( here patriotism). Mesmerising. Salute to poet Akbar Allahabadi and legend Sir Ghulam Ali for creating this masterpiece.
