I was there for not only this game, but for the Friday night game, which was the greatest, most intense, griping sports contest I ever saw. The Yankees won 1-0. Yogi Berra proved to me as a little 8 year old boy sitting in the lower left field grandstands with his Dad and Uncle that he was more than just a great catcher. He was a great left fielder too, with how he gunned down Al Kaline at second base on a shot down the left field foul line from almost a catcher's crouch on the foul line. The play saved the game, and in my opinion, saved the series and the pennant, since the Tigers came in only a game and a half back.

These are M&M Boys from Yankee Stadium against the C&C Boys from Detroit. The 1961 season is historical . The reason is that the great NY Yankee right fielder, Roger Maris broke that Ruth HR with 61 homers that year. The C&C Boys stayed hot on their tail until the end of this legendary 1961 baseball season.
