Madara was so strong to a point that even the creator was unable to kill him properly.

It really pisses me off when people call anime childish when they know nothing about it. The depth of this is so real!

from the moment I saw Madara (the real one, not Obito masquerading as Madara), I just felt a deep sense of heavy sadness. The tragedy of his character carries a lot of palpable weight. Here is a man who is "great" by all measures, even from childhood. He has talent and skill. He has immeasurable love for family. He is smart. He has a dream to make a better world. He has integrity and honor. And yet at every single moment in history, he is crushed. He gets back up and is crushed again. He tries so hard and keeps getting the short end of the stick. And we witness this unrelenting beat down chip away at him over an immeasurable amount of time. Chronologically, we are introduced to him first when he meets Hashirama as children. Hashirama is shown to be just always slightly better than him in all their competitions but he harbors no dark jealousy or sense of inferiority. He enjoys their rivalry (all the way to the end of his reanimated then resurrected life). In fact I don't think he was ever truly happier than when he was fighting with his friend, his best and only friend. He has lost FOUR brothers in battle and yet does not blindly hate the other side. I don't think he actually demonstrates hatred of any kind despite the war time tragedies (similar and even lesser tragedies have spawned hatred in so many other Naruto characters). He even witnesses his best friend's younger brother kill his last remaining brother and I have to give it to Madara for never ONCE talking about or acting out any kind of vengeance. He does finally state one time after Edo Tensei when Tobirama is impaled that he had thought about doing that for a while but his expression is not hatred or anger. Just sadness. When Uchiha vs Senju ends in his defeat, he finally tries again to build the dream village with Hashirama but the dream is always going to be more hollow for him since his main goal was to make a place where his brother could be safe. And that brother is already dead. yet he still tries to build the dream. He is never fully accepted in this village though and even loses the trust of his own clan over time. Hokage is dangled in front of him but given to Hashirama. Yet he doesn't express jealousy or anger to Hashirama. Just, again, this continued and mounting frustration and sadness. He leaves and comes back but is defeated again and ultimately left alone in an underground cave, withering away and forgotten. And despite all this, when he is revived, he still demonstrates a great deal of integrity in his battles. He acknowledges his opponents powers (not just Hashirama but Tsunade, Guy, Naruto, etc). He still doesn't display anger, hatred, sadistic behaviour. He still ultimately wants to create a peaceful future, delusional as his means may be at this point. And he still seems to only be happy when he is fighting Hashirama or someone who reminds him of Hashirama (like Guy's fight). The only thing in his life that he looked forward to, that wasn't taken away from him, that wasn't soured or destroyed. That ongoing rivalry with his best friend. I never saw Madara as evil. Just a figure tragically ground down by the gears of a fate that never let him win.

"Do not misunderstand it. This is not power of your creation!" : Madara Uchiha

Man I love that line when sending two meteors at the allied shinobi force.

“When a man learns to feel love he must also bear the risk of hate”
That’s one of my favorite quotes because he had to hide the love and friendship behind for a plan of conquest and peace in order to make it real
