Just what is it about the classic disco beat that makes you want to get up and dance? There's actually a name for it, and APO Principal Percussionist Eric Renick explains all!

This guy killed it man thank you for this info, music especially all kinds of genres means so much to me in my life. Music makes me feel something my mind can’t show if you know what I mean

I came here from Pandora because the term kept popping up in the list of features for songs I liked. Glad to learn what it means! The beat is something I love to hear in my music, and it explains why I love disco and motown.

Whoah, just stumbled upon this looking for a simple 4/4 example but loved everything I just learned!! Definitely subscribing for what it's worth.

I feel extremely silly for never fully appreciating the high hat patterns as being so innovative and characteristic of disco despite so many years of playing percussion. This is a fantastic little intro!

Thank you for the lesson, we wanted to learn what the term meant after watching Michael Omartian with Rick Beato. ✌️👍

And as soon as "The Love I Lost" by Harold Melvin and The Blue Notes starts up, you'll recognise the song and the beat straight away!
