▼Synopsis
Oniwaban was an organization of authorized Kogi Onmitsu by Bakuhu that is composed of two groups of Ninja: Iga and Kouga. They had had spy activities for generations, and were called “Kusa.” This is a story of an Onmitsu who settled in Okazaki Joka town during the Seitoku period of General Ietsugu as a “Kusa” and his son who trained to be a Ninja in Edo. The harsh destiny of Oniwaban under political power is depicted by Kunie Tanaka, playing the main character.

Really enjoyed seeing Kunie Tanaka in a new role, nice after having watched him in Dark Magistrate and Hawks of Edo. Really wish the Japanese film title and date of release were provided for these movies.

He traveled on to the Philippines which was under Spanish rule at that time, and he decided to set up a business selling ramen and gyoza which the locals enjoyed. He fathered a few children but he never passed on the art of Oniwaban to them nor to the locals with whom he found favor, he also learned the local language and a bit of Spanish and offered to fight alongside both the locals and the Spaniards against one of the most dangerous Chinese pirates of the period, Li Ma Hong, who actually challenged the might of the Spanish conquistadores who have just barely started colonizing and ruling the islands in the 1600s. Kazuma was however banned by the Spaniards from setting up a dojo, and like the local style of martial arts called "Escrima", Kazuma's martial arts was also banned from being taught for fear that one day they will be used against the Spaniards in an uprising or revolt. So, it was back to his food business and after a few years, his profits allowed him to enlarge his Omise which he later called "Edo Edo", the ancient precursor to the present day Japanese fast food known as "Tokyo Tokyo".

What a magnificent character: Suteikuchi(if my spelling is correct) (this is not his real name, of course), his real name is Fumio something (perhaps, -it is so hard to remember Japanese names). Anyway, the main hero's character is so magnificent! I hope after some time he will come back to the woman who loved him so truly and also to his loyal subordinate, Octopus and also keep in touch with his really worthy son. May God bless them all.
