Does upgrading a weapon remove the original classification? For example, if I upgrade the Tick Macuahuitl to fresh will it remove the slashing or will it make it both?

so the candy enhancements arent worth it? Mighty will upgrade lv9 to 65% nut the candys only go to 45%? Im trying to find out which of the candies is the best one if any of them before I go upgrading, Obsidian SUCK when it comes to a huge lack of guides for how to play this game and dont put out any guides themselves. I spent alot of time online trying to search up how to do things

why doesn't it let me use other globs than mighty even though my weapon is only level 5 and its a crossbow not a staff or anything
