I live in Sweden, so the winters here are rough. Despite that, it feels almost disproportionate how absolutely terrible I feel in the dark and cold. During the few hours of sunlight I get each day I’m perfectly fine, but as soon as the sun goes down I become genuinely suicidal. It’s a very distressing thing to experience and I’ve now come to dread sundown each day, which comes a couple hours after noon. I’m not sure how to combat any of it, but as I struggle with several other mental illnesses, I know I need to. I’ll take some supplements and see where that gets me. Go outside more, get up before the sun rises so I can maximise the number of hours of sunlight I get in each day. If you have any more tips please let me know. I feel stupid and silly for being this affected by the dark but no matter how much I try to ignore it, my anxiety heightens by about a hundred in the evenings and especially in the winter.

Its now late November and I feel terrible. Belgium. It gets worse each year. In combination with clinical depression, I'm a basket case and fairly worthless. I feel like a waste of oxygen and resources. I chain smoke and eat poorly but its not working. I thought a heart attack would have taken me already.

I just moved from Italy in Scandinavia and I’m experiencing the worst period of my life. I mean, in Italy is not that different from here (rainy, foggy, dark weather all the time, less light hours), however this is my first time feeling so bad.
I think it’s mainly because I’m struggling in socializing: danes aren’t used to socialize and become friends as easy as in Italy. Then I feel alone in this dark months.

Just to let everyone knows that you are not alone. Hope you the best

Thanks for the video. This reminds me I did have vitamin D deficiency earlier in 2021, so maybe I need to revisit supplements...

I will now go out for a walk to get those last minutes of sunlight :) (although I'm in the UK during december, so wish me luck! lol)

I wish this was more straight to the point. Spare us all the formalities next time please. The 2nd reccomended video when you type in, "How to fight seasonal depression" looks to be more forward. You spent more time talking about what seasonal depression is than how to actually manage it. 5 min of nonsense.
