No monster in the entire game (bar ancients with random affixes on equipment) has poison length resist. And its reduced by -% target poison resist at the same time as their poison resist. The result is that a necro with 13k poison nova over 2 seconds, -95% resist on gear and lower resist curse winds up dealing 51k damage over 3.9 seconds, enough to 1-tap almost any monster in P8 and 2-3 hit the unique/minion packs.

If you're looking solely at enemy resistances and immunities as the gauge, fire is the worst element by far, with far too many enemies immune to it and too little ways to reduce their resists even if you break it. Unbreakable poison immunes aren't common and -% resists stacked heavily.

The key to poison is maxing out - resist which is much easier since the introduction of sunder grand charms. A good bramble, poison facets, and dweb will be plenty to break anything out there but it's a high cost of entry to be viable.

i play it on player5 and it drops pretty much everything-- of course i wear the bramble and the dweb...i use only the very first curse... its a bit weak with the act bosses, but a great rune finder due to the killspeed

i think it's only weak on pvp cuz Carrion wind rings, with GZ stuff it's a godly and funny mob striker

I think poison is "weak" because you can't hit recovery mobs and you can't spam it to make stuff die faster. That being said it also has its synergies in 1 or 2 skills giving you a quick way to max it out in the skill trees leaving room for other stuff to assist like CE.
