PLEASE SUBSCRIBE if you are wanting to know more on gardening in Canada & gardening in Colder Climates in general. My methods apply to the USDA Plant Hardiness Zone 1 - Zone 6. As a soil scientist I always try to incorporate science into my videos. Soil science can be over complicated so allow me to guide you.

Leave a comment and let me know where your are gardening. And let me know what videos you would like to see in the future!

Ashley is an agronomist who has had a passion for plants since she was a small child. In the long summers as a child, she would garden alongside her grandmother and it was then that she realized her love for greenery. With years of great studying, Ashley had begun her post-secondary education at the University of Saskatchewan.
At first, her second love, animals, was the career path she chose but while doing her undergrad she realized that her education would take her elsewhere. And with that, four years later she graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a bachelor’s degree in science and a major in Soil Science.
Some of Ashley’s interests are YouTube, in which she posts informative videos about plants and gardening. The focus of Ashley’s YouTube channel is to bring science to gardening in a way that is informative but also helpful to others learning to garden. She also talks about the importance of having your own garden and the joys of gardening indoors. Ashley continues to study plants in her free time and hopes to expand her YouTube channel as well as her reach to up and coming gardeners.

Mine is BP3000, I love it. I got it few months ago. It is my first experience with indoor planting. Because I dont have a tent yet, I can't get the temperature higher than 20degrees in my basement, as the fan and dehumidifier are on all the time.
So the heat is not an issue for me.

I just got new lights myself. Was up all night redesigning my 4x8 for my 2 new 560w Bava Greens. Always exciting!

i built a 26 inch wide by 8-foot long shelf set in my south-facing living room window i have hung 3 of the BP 1000 under the top shelf and 3 above the top shelf i have them on timers so they come on at 5 am and shut off at ruffly sunrise, i change the timer setting weekly they come back on at 6 pm right now and shut off at 10 pm, the issue i had is they have no reflector so are hard on the eyes, i solved this by bending flashing from home hardware and hooking the home built reflector on the ratchet hangers

Is it a good idea to introduce beneficial nematodes to get rid of some harmful nematodes and grubs in my soil or is there a better way?

I'm thinking of creating a soil for my inground fig trees that has biochar (astablished), Mycorhizzae, rocks dust, crushed sea shells, pumice ( or some sort of other volcanic rock) ...and also introduce beneficial nematodes and never disturb the soil again (except adding from the top some composed...); what's your thoughts on that?

Can you please help me out.

I have a collection of figs planted in ground and in my pots, and my soil is full of grubs and harmful nematodes. Is there a way to get rid of them organically without harming the trees and the worms..?

Thank you.
