In this video I am unboxing Amouage's [discontinued] Opus IX; a jasmine-centric fragrance that is so much more than jasmine!!!
Upon first impression, I get jasmine in all its glory; the flowers and stems for an almost indolic jasmine fragrance. This indolic jasmine is then met with other notes in the fragrance like the guaiac wood and ambergris, which makes for a very sexy, dark, lush floral experience. This is a beauty!! My first impression of Opus IX was a fantastic one!!

Omg amouge has been my favorite for years. I have most of the opus collection and have a couple backs ups from ten yrs ago because I was worried they would sadly disappear like so. My faves are probably iii, V, Vi.

Being unwilling to pay $1, 000 for a bottle of Fate Woman, I bought the Dua inspired version for giggles, and it is gorgeous (though out of stock and potentially vaulted).

Remember to let your fragrances "settle" for at least 7 days after arriving in the mail, before starting to form an opinion. I've learned that they can end up smelling totally different 7-10 after arrival versus 1-2 days after arrival.

Wow congratulations 🎉 on getting Opus 9. I have both one and nine as well.

Number nine is beautiful. I personally don't feel this fragrance is hard to wear, but I see where people can say that.

If you get a chance to smell Shinanay from Nishane I think you would like it. Sounds very similar to the notes in Opus IX. I received a sample of it & am loving it.

Amouage unfortunately went down the path of “commercial” over quality now that they are owned by private equity. I loved the form factor of the original library collection instead of the lavender paddle flacons they do now. I own several Amouage from the “classic” line and I have tried to get a couple from the older Opus line, but they have gotten really difficult to find. I wish they bring them back in the original bottles 😢.

Oh yeah fate woman…… I could cry. It was my instant favorite amouage years ago but I was starting my perfume journey and didn’t feel comfortable spending $150 on a bottle. Then they discontinued it and the bottles went up to $1k… completely devastated. I now own a bunch of bottles worth $150 or more and feel so dumb for not grabbing it then

I think all Opuses are interesting, (i own all of them) but they are kinda too linear...no evolution whatsoever or better said, the evolution is very subtle. i am glad you get more florals than just jasmine, even if they are short lived just to create the artificial "camelia" accord. don't you get an overdose of pepper? that what is bugging my nose. have you sampled Opus X? you may like it. I am glad i came across to your channel, you are doing a good job. cheers.
