The amount of music talent and experience in this man is staggering. I am a guitar player with 35 years in the bag and I am both humbled and stunned when I watch you talk about music. I could not teach you a single thing but you could teach me for decades. You are such a legend Rick. NEVER stop doing this.

Acquiring a wealth of musical knowledge and sharing it must be one of the most rewarding experiences on earth. Life without music would render any landscape barren. Rick, we appreciate your commitment to teaching us music and its history. Cheers!

I was working in a music store as well in 1994 opening CDs for people. We did cassettes too. We had a cellophane shrink wrap machine in back of the house to reseal opened rejected CDs & cassettes.

What a different world that was.

Of all the YouTubers that have music content I think Rick does it the most seamless, and that undoubtedly comes from having to explain this stuff to newbies for so long. I don't always understand what he's saying but its fun hearing about the depths that music can get to.

I'm always so impressed when Rick seems to effortlessly bang out songs I could NEVER learn to play. It's staggering to a guy like me who doesn't read music. I don't read, but I know things about music, being a player and a writer. You naturally learn things whether you mean to or not, as long as you're paying attention. So even though I don't read, I understand how difficult some of the things he does so effortlessly really are. I'm constantly amazed with him. "Josie" really takes the cake!

I can''t read a note of music, I cannot make my fingers do what they need to in order to play guitar properly but I LOVE listening to you nerd out about the music that I love. Don't think I'll ever get tired of it.

I’m floored at your wealth of knowledge of songs, parts etc but what is even greater I feel is your love and enthusiasm for music. Thankyou!!

Great video! I remember when we met you were still teaching guitar, but I never saw you write upside down - crazy! I played a lot of dive bars and hotel lounges in cover bands for a few years after highschool covering whatever was in the top 10 each week. I didn't realize at the time how much that would prepare me for my career.

It’s amazing how Rick can listen to a song and know what notes, chords and scale a song or vocal is in. The best I really got was my ear was trained decently to my fingers for guitar meaning if my brain was looking for a certain note my fingers would automatically find the note on the guitar, I couldn’t tell you what note it was unless u gave me a minute to look where my fingers were it was just kinda playing by feel but man it would be cool to know everything like Rick.
